Cambodia, Singapore seek deeper investment, green energy and digital cooperation

Cambodia and Singapore are looking to deepen economic cooperation, with investment, green energy, digital technology, and human resource development identified as key areas for further collaboration.

First Vice-President of the National Assembly Cheam Yeap raised these priorities during a meeting with Singaporean Ambassador to Cambodia Steven Pang at the National Assembly yesterday.

Yeap highlighted Singapore’s role as a leading trading and investment partner for Cambodia, particularly in finance, logistics, real estate, and services. He also welcomed cooperation on a strategic project to export renewable energy from Cambodia to Singapore, describing it as an important model for ASEAN’s response to climate change.

The two sides also discussed strengthening parliamentary cooperation, including sharing Singapore’s experience in legislation, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and digital transformation.

Ambassador Pang said he would work to expand bilateral relations during his diplomatic tenure further, highlighting tourism as another area with room for growth. He noted that improved connectivity and a flight time of just over two hours could encourage more Singaporean visitors to Cambodia.

Both sides also underscored the need for stronger cooperation to combat online crime and scams, and for closer collaboration among law enforcement agencies.
