ASEAN-China Women Entrepreneurs gather in Siem Reap to advance MSME leadership

ASEAN and Chinese women entrepreneurs gathered in Siem Reap yesterday for an exchange aimed at addressing challenges and strengthening women’s leadership in micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs).

 

Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Under-Secretary of State Yeap Samnang presided over the opening ceremony under the theme “Addressing Challenges and Advancing Leadership in MSME Development.”

The event was also attended by Ministry of Industry, Science, Technology and Innovation Under-Secretary of State Hort Pheng, Siem Reap Deputy Governor Dy Rado, and Lu Qizhi, Director of the Consular Office in Siem Reap at the Chinese Embassy in Cambodia.

Samnang said the growing ASEAN-China partnership, noting that two-way trade reached $1.3 trillion in 2025, while Chinese investment in ASEAN amounted to $20 billion.

He said the exchange provides a valuable platform for women entrepreneurs and stakeholders from the public and private sectors to connect, share experiences and transform ideas into new opportunities.

Samnang encouraged participants to exchange best practices, address common challenges and build meaningful cross-border partnerships that can expand opportunities for women entrepreneurs and contribute to a more resilient and inclusive regional economy.

The exchange was organised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation with support from the Government of China through the ASEAN-China Cooperation Fund.
