Cambodia and EU boost agricultural development partnership

Cambodia and the European Union have reinforced their commitment to agricultural development, following a high-level ministerial visit to Tbong Khmum province.

Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Minister Dith Tina and EU Ambassador to Cambodia Igor Driesmans visited the Chiro Rung Roeung Agricultural Community to assess ongoing farmer support initiatives and evaluate community management strategies.

During the visit, the delegation met with local farmers to address specific challenges, listen to operational concerns, and discuss ways to deliver more sustainable assistance. Discussions centred on improving market linkages and enhancing agricultural efficiency.

A key highlight of the visit was witnessing the formal signing of a production contract between the local agricultural community and a processing enterprise. This agreement aims to secure reliable market access, safeguard farmers’ livelihoods, and foster long-term growth within Cambodia’s agricultural sector.

The joint initiative underscores both parties’ dedication to modernising rural communities and bolstering economic resilience through targeted partnerships.
