PAS reports 35.7% surge in 2025 net profit amid trade growth

With double-digit growth recorded across cargo, container volumes, and vessel calls, PAS enters 2026 with strong operational momentum.

Sihanoukville Autonomous Port (PAS), Cambodia’s only deepwater seaport, has announced strong financial performance for 2025, reporting a net profit of KHR 172 billion, marking a 35.7 percent increase compared to 2024. The results were disclosed in financial statements submitted to the Cambodia Securities Exchange (CSX) recently.

The port handled 1,347,726 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) during the year, representing a 30.57 percent increase over the previous year. The strong growth in container throughput underscores the port’s strategic importance as Cambodia’s primary maritime trade gateway.

Lou Kimchhun, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of PAS, said the port’s performance demonstrated resilience under challenging operating conditions. “We are proud to serve as a vital gateway port for import and export activities, enabling greater independence and effectively addressing emerging challenges while contributing to national economic growth and development,” he said.

He added that the achievements align with the vision outlined in the development master plan to transform PAS into a regional port and logistics hub serving not only Cambodia but also the wider Mekong region and beyond.

PAS, in fact, maintained robust growth momentum through the fourth quarter of 2025, posting a net profit after tax of KHR 77.34 billion, up 21.82 percent from KHR 63.48 billion in the same period in 2024. Operational performance showed similar gains, with cargo throughput reaching 3.45 million tonnes in the final quarter, an increase of 33.14 percent year-on-year.

Container throughput in Q4, 2025, rose sharply to 388,436 TEUs, up 43.10 percent compared to the previous year. The number of vessels calling at the port also climbed to 456 ships, a 12.59 percent increase from Q4 2024. The surge in container volumes highlights strengthening export-import flows through the 125-hectare facility in Sihanoukville Province.

PAS’s performance reflects broader positive economic trends. According to projections cited in the report, the global economy is expected to grow by around three percent in 2025, while Cambodia’s economy is forecast to expand approximately 4.9 percent. Such growth is expected to support sustained trade demand, a critical factor for PAS, whose core revenues are closely tied to international cargo flows.

Infrastructure expansion has also played a key role in supporting higher volumes. Following the commissioning of an additional 253-meter container terminal quay, installation of new container handling equipment, dredging of all three berths, and expansion of the terminal yard area, the port’s total handling capacity now exceeds 1,000,000 TEUs per year. These enhancements have improved operational productivity and efficiency, enabling PAS to meet rising customer demand.

PAS is also committed to the Royal Government of Cambodia’s efforts “to achieving the Vision 2050 of becoming a high-income country by enhancing service quality, increasing the use of digital transformation, and promoting connectivity, thereby becoming a key gateway for international trade and attracting investment to Cambodia,” Kimchhun said.

With double-digit growth recorded across cargo, container volumes, and vessel calls, PAS enters 2026 with strong operational momentum. Continued expansion of Cambodia’s manufacturing base and deeper trade integration are expected to sustain port activity. However, as a trade-dependent enterprise, the port remains exposed to global economic volatility, maritime logistics disruptions, and foreign exchange fluctuations.
