Cambodia’s trade with Singapore surges 56%

Cambodia’s bilateral trade with Singapore surged by 56 percent in 2025 compared to the previous year, reaching a total value of $1.4 billion, according to an annual report released recently by the General Department of Customs and Excise (GDCE). The sharp increase has elevated Singapore to become Cambodia’s sixth-largest trading partner.

Despite the overall growth in trade, Cambodia’s exports to Singapore recorded a significant decline during the year. Exports fell by 37 percent to $65 million, reflecting weaker outbound shipments compared to the previous year. In contrast, imports from Singapore rose sharply, increasing by 68 percent to $1.34 billion, the report showed.

The surge in imports was the main driver of the expansion in bilateral trade, highlighting Cambodia’s growing reliance on Singaporean goods. Singapore is a key regional hub for refined petroleum, machinery, electronics, and other industrial inputs, which are essential to Cambodia’s manufacturing, construction, and energy sectors.

Trade analysts said the widening trade imbalance underscores the need for Cambodia to diversify and strengthen its export base to Singapore. Improving product competitiveness and expanding value-added manufacturing could help reverse the decline in exports in the coming years.

Analysts noted that continued regional integration and stable trade relations are expected to support further growth in Cambodia’s international trade, particularly with ASEAN partners such as Singapore.
