Cashew sector targets export growth in China and Japan
The Cashew Nut Association of Cambodia (CAC) is scheduled to organise two major business-to-business (B2B) events in February and March, focused on diversifying export markets and increasing shipments to China and Japan.

In February, the CAC will host a matchmaking event in Phnom Penh connecting local traders with 10 Chinese companies interested in purchasing raw cashew nuts and shells. The initiative is being organised in partnership with the Chinese-Cambodian Industrial Economic Promotion Association.
A second trade event scheduled for March will bring together CAC members and Japanese firms for direct negotiations.
Organised by the Japan External Trade Organisation (JETRO), the programme specifically targets expanding Cambodian cashew kernels into the Japanese market.
Approximately 40 Cambodian processing firms are expected to meet with 20 Japanese companies. This mission follows a series of high-level discussions held in November 2025 and will include a field visit to Kampong Thom province on March 9, during which delegates will inspect production standards and supply chain facilities.
Cambodia’s cashew sector recorded a landmark year in 2025, exporting over one million tonnes of raw nuts and generating more than $1.5 billion in revenue. While nearly 90% of current exports are destined for Vietnam, the government’s National Cashew Policy 2022–2027 aims to significantly increase domestic processing capacity and direct exports to global markets.
