Cambodia spends $2.43 bln for oil, gas imports in 2025
Cambodia’s fuel import costs drop nearly 10% in 2025 amid green energy push.

Cambodia’s total import of diesel, gasoline, and combustion gas amounted to $2.43 billion in 2025, down 9.6% from the year before, its Ministry of Commerce said yesterday.
The country spent $1.26 billion on importing diesel last year, down 11% year-on-year; 840 million on gasoline, down 11.2%; and $334 million on combustion gas, slightly down 0.1%, the report said.
Currently, the Southeast Asian country relies entirely on oil and gas imports.
China-ASEAN Studies Centre of the Cambodia University of Technology and Science Deputy Director Thong Mengdavid said the decline in imports suggested lower global oil prices, enhanced energy efficiency, and the growing role of renewable energy in domestic consumption.
Looking ahead, Cambodia’s energy security strategy, through diversification of energy sources and regional power connectivity, could further decrease the kingdom’s reliance on imported fossil fuels, aligning with its green growth goals, he told Xinhua.
