Cambodia showcases potential products at China import expo to expand market access

Cambodia is showcasing its agricultural products, processed foods, handicrafts and other locally made goods at the 9th China International Import Expo (CIIE) in Shanghai, as the country seeks to strengthen trade ties and expand the presence of Cambodian products in the Chinese and international markets.

The Cambodian National Pavilion, organised by the Ministry of Commerce (MoC), opened on Thursday at the National Exhibition and Convention Center in Shanghai and will run until November 10 under the theme “New Era, Shared Future”.

According to the news statement of MoC issued yesterday said that the inauguration ceremony was presided over by Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of Commerce Nam Lynal.

It was attended by Cambodia’s Consul General in Shanghai, ministry officials and representatives from Cambodian and Chinese businesses.

Designed under the theme “Cambodia: Basket of Wonders”, the pavilion combines modern architectural features with elements of Khmer culture. It features four zones dedicated to cultural and product exhibitions, performances and promotional displays, business matchmaking, and visitor reception.

The MoC facilitated the participation of 10 Cambodian companies to showcase their products at the exhibition, providing opportunities to promote local brands, connect with potential buyers and explore business partnerships.

Products on display include Sen Kra’ob fragrant rice, cashew nuts, dried mangoes, high-quality pepper, coffee, palm sugar, salt flakes, instant noodles, Khmer silk, and geographical indication (GI) products. Handicrafts, jewellery, silver and copper carvings, and souvenirs are also being promoted.

The ministry said the products were selected for their quality and presented with premium packaging that meets international sanitary standards, targeting export markets and online sales channels.

Traditional Khmer arts and musical instrument performances are also held daily to attract visitors and promote Cambodia’s cultural identity.

The participation is expected to strengthen Cambodia’s trade relations with China, increase international recognition of its products and create new opportunities for Cambodian businesses to access the Chinese market.
