Cambodia spends over $600m to cushion economy from global energy spikes
Cambodia has spent more than $600 million on energy subsidies to protect consumers from global fuel price spikes linked to conflict in the Middle East, Prime Minister Hun Manet said yesterday.

Speaking during a relief event in flood-hit Pur Sat province, Mr Hun Manet said the government reduced import duties on oil, gas, and renewable energy equipment to stabilise retail fuel prices and electricity tariffs.
Domestic fuel prices have surged sharply, with regular petrol rising 31% and diesel climbing 46.7% since February, according to Ministry of Commerce figures.
The prime minister confirmed the subsidies will continue while global energy markets remain volatile. Cambodia relies entirely on imported petroleum and diesel to meet its energy needs.
