Cambodia prepares special support package for high-tech manufacturing investment

Cambodia prepares a special support package for an investment expansion project focused on core technology manufacturing, as the government seeks to attract large-scale, high-value investment and diversify the industrial base.

A cross-ministerial meeting chaired by Ministry of Economy and Finance Secretary of State Hean Sahib reviews inputs from relevant institutions to establish a common position on proposed support measures.

The gathering brings together senior officials from the Council for the Development of Cambodia, the Ministry of Industry, Science, Technology and Innovation, and other key agencies. Sahib stresses the importance of attracting quality investors with strong track records to improve national competitiveness.

Under the proposed package, government institutions offer flexible support addressing administrative procedures, water and electricity infrastructure, trade facilitation and tax incentives. These measures aim to establish Cambodia as a strategic manufacturing base for high-precision components.

However, the incentives are linked to specific commitments, including advanced technology training for local workers, technology transfer, research and development facility establishment, and increased use of local production inputs. The meeting reached an in-principle agreement on the package to foster sustainable economic growth.
