Grand celebration to mark MSMEs Day

The event aims to strengthen the competitiveness of Cambodian MSMEs, enhance their market orientation and better position them to contribute to sustainable economic growth, according to a circular signed by Prime Minister Hun Manet.

The government has announced that the 3rd National Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) Day 2026 will be held tomorrow under the theme: “Building Bridges for MSMEs Towards Markets.”

The event aims to strengthen the competitiveness of Cambodian MSMEs, enhance their market orientation, and better position them to contribute to sustainable economic growth, according to a circular signed by Prime Minister Hun Manet on Wednesday.

“The MSME sector serves as the backbone of the national economy and plays a key role in creating jobs, improving livelihoods, strengthening economic resilience, and enhancing Cambodia’s competitiveness amid global economic uncertainty and rapid change,” said Mr Hun Manet.

The Prime Minister further stated that for 2026, the Royal Government has decided to organise the 3rd MSMEs Day by focusing on five key objectives:

1) Promote government policies, strategies, and programmes supporting MSMEs and the informal economy to improve productivity, quality, competitiveness, and readiness for Cambodia’s graduation from Least Developed Country (LDC) status by the end of 2029.

2) Create stronger market linkages between MSMEs and suppliers, investors, financial institutions, digital trade platforms, and larger enterprises to strengthen value chains and boost domestic supply.

3) Encourage support for local products by promoting the use of quality Cambodian-made goods that meet standards for safety, packaging, and attractiveness.

4) Promote digital technology and innovation adoption among MSMEs to modernise production, business management, and marketing.

5) Strengthen MSME resilience amid global economic uncertainty, regional competition, and geopolitical and international trade challenges.

To ensure the event is organised smoothly, the government has also assigned responsibilities to relevant ministries and institutions.

Mr Hun Manet further added that the Ministry of Industry, Science, Technology and Innovation (MISTI) has been tasked with the responsibility to organise the event and coordinate with ministries, provincial administrations, national and international organisations, development partners, and the private sector to produce promotional materials and raise nationwide awareness.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Information (MoINFO) will coordinate with state and private media outlets—including radio, television, newspapers, social media platforms, and other communication channels—to widely promote the circular, the Prime Minister’s message, videos, and related content.

“All ministries, institutions, local administrations, and relevant agencies have also been instructed to support and display banners and promotional materials in public areas to mark the occasion,” said the Prime Minister.

It may be recalled that last year, MITSI held the 2nd National Day of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) under the theme ‘MSMEs Readiness for LDC Graduation,’ to highlight the vital role of businesses and solve challenges for future growth.

The Royal Government of Cambodia has issued a sub-decree, declaring June 27 as the National Day of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises to reocgnise the importance of MSMEs, stimulate job creation, fortify supply chains, and foster both domestic and international market expansion.
