Vietnam–Cambodia OCOP fair expected to boost cross-border trade

The Vietnam–Cambodia Border One Commune One Product (OCOP) Trade Fair is underway in Tinh Bien ward, Vietnam’s An Giang province, featuring more than 200 booths from 80 enterprises from both countries.

Running until December 16, the week-long fair, jointly organised by the Vietnamese Ministry of Industry and Trade and the An Giang provincial People’s Committee, aims to promote economic connectivity, strengthen cooperation and boost trade exchanges between the two countries.

Participating businesses are showcasing thousands of regional specialities, OCOP-certified products, consumer goods, handicrafts and high-quality agricultural produce.

A highlight of this year’s event is the prominent display of Vietnamese OCOP products rated three stars or above, alongside leading brands seeking to expand exports to the Cambodian market.

In his opening remarks, Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Le Trung Ho said Vietnam–Cambodia economic relations have thrived in recent years, with bilateral trade more than tripling from around $3.3 billion in 2015 to over $10 billion in 2024.

According to the official, cross-border trade remains a vital lifeline of the economy. Trade ties between An Giang and Cambodian provinces have grown strongly, reaching $940 million in the first nine months of this year, including $531 million in exports.

The fair offers an opportunity for Vietnamese and Cambodian enterprises to meet and promote their brands and speciality products to both domestic and international visitors, he added, noting that it also serves as a platform for trade connections, helping businesses seek partners, expand distribution networks and access the promising border market.
