CSX shows robust growth in August

The results boost market confidence, expand growth potential, and inject fresh optimism across the board.

The Cambodian Stock Market (CSX) showed robust growth in August 2026 with average daily trading value reaching 3.175 billion riels (about $800,000), an approximate 300 percent increase compared to the average daily figure across the first seven months of 2026.

The index closed at 541.02 in August 2026, an 18 percent monthly increase and an approximately 28 percent growth over the first eight months of the year, reaching a 4-year high of 560.09 on August 26, according to a CSX press release on September 3.

The results have contributed to market confidence, broadened growth potential, and newly fostered optimism across the entire market, read the release.

Key growth drivers included a surge in market activity driven by attractive share prices related to business firms, to fundamentals, solid historical dividend yields, positive Q2 2026 corporate financial results, and strong support from institutional investors.

Investor engagement also hit a record high with 7,901 active investors (those executing at least one successful trade) in August. Additionally, there were 2,006 new trading accounts opened during the month.

“The expansion of investor participation serves as a vital catalyst for the CSX to further broaden its services, develop new financial products, and modernise its technology infrastructure to serve a broader range of the interests of investors,” the release added.

In July, the average trading value was 929 million riels ($229,552). The CSX Index reached a high of 458.26. There were 6,166 active investors and 1,176 new trading accounts were opened.

Growth has also been noted by other factors.

The number of valid trading accounts on CSX reached 76,277 by April 2026, compared with 60,132 accounts in April 2025.

Also, Delegate of the Royal Government of Cambodia in charge as the Director-General of the Securities and Exchange Regulator of Cambodia Sou Socheat said in July he expects the capital raised from the issuance of securities by listed companies on CSX to increase to approximately $1 billion by the end of 2026.

CSX officials have sought companies to make stock market listings as long as the businesses meet the required standards and are prepared to enter the market.

Cambodia’s capital market has grown to 28 companies. The 27th listing is Borey Vimean Samnang Plc, which is raising $10 million through a bond issuance, while the upcoming 28th listing, LOLC, will begin trading on September 10.
