MME, CCC discuss mining and energy challenges
The talks centre on strengthening public-private dialogue and resolving challenges facing mining and energy businesses.

The Cambodia Chamber of Commerce (CCC) yesterday held a meeting with the Ministry of Mines and Energy (MME) to strengthen public-private dialogue and address challenges facing businesses in the mining and energy sectors.
The meeting was co-chaired by Mines and Energy Minister Keo Rottanak, who is also Third Vice-President of the Council for the Development of Cambodia, and CCC President Kith Meng, who also chairs the Coordinating Committee of the Private Sector Working Group under the Government-Private Sector Forum Mechanism and the ASEAN Business Advisory Council for Cambodia.
The event was attended by ministry leaders and officials, CCC members, presidents and representatives of the capital-provincial chambers of commerce, co-chairs of the private sector working groups under the Government-Private Sector Forum, as well as representatives of business associations, private companies and other stakeholders.
The meeting aimed to establish a direct and transparent platform for dialogue between the government and the private sector. It also provided an opportunity for businesses and investors to share recommendations, exchange information and discuss the development of Cambodia’s mining and energy sectors.
Participants also raised challenges and concerns related to energy consumption, electricity costs, technical barriers and legal standards.
The discussions were intended to facilitate coordination and identify practical solutions with the Ministry of Mines and Energy and the government.
Rottanak said the private sector is an indispensable partner of the government and a key driver of national economic growth.
“The government remains committed to addressing practical challenges in the mining and energy sectors,” he said.
The minister encouraged private-sector stakeholders to use the Government-Private Sector Forum’s working-group mechanism, with the CCC serving as the primary channel for raising business concerns and seeking government intervention and coordination.
In the meeting, Meng said that the mining and energy sectors remain important pillars of economic development, supporting industrial growth, attracting foreign investment and promoting sustainable development.
The sectors are also undergoing continuous transformation to meet the needs of the private sector, the national economy and the changing global environment, Meng said.
