Shares end mixed in morning trading

The VN-Index closed higher this morning thanks to the gains made by the large-cap stocks, despite posting a marginal fall at the start.

 

The index rose by 0.63 per cent to end at 575.89 points, with more than 62.2 million shares changing hands, worth VND922.9 billion or US$43.9 million.

Among the large-cap stocks, only two codes shed values. The Hoa Sen Group (HSG) and the Vinh Son Song Hinh Hydroelectric Plant (VSH) lost VND400 or $0.019 and VND200 or $0.0095 per share respectively.

Four codes closed at their reference prices, while the rest in the VN30 package, comprising the largest stocks by capitalisation and liquidity, posted gains with the index rising by 0.65 per cent to end at 622.13 points.

More than 4.9 million shares of the Tan Tao Group (ITA) were traded this morning. Five other large-cap stocks also had a trading volume of more than 1 million shares.

The HNX-Index on the Ha Noi Exchange closed 0.07 per cent lower to finish at 77.7 points, and the HNXFF-Index lost 0.04 per cent to end at 78.13 points.

Blue chips failed to support the benchmark indices this morning, although the HNX30-Index added 0.49 per cent to end at 156.9 points.

With more than 34 million shares traded, the trading value reached VND385 billion or $18.3 million.
