Blue chips boost national indices

Blue chips boosted the indices on both the national stock exchanges this morning.

 

The VN-Index on the HCM City Stock Exchange earned 4.75 points this morning, or as much as 0.83 per cent, to close at 574.49 points.

The gain was mainly registered by large-cap stocks. The 30 top stocks by market value and liquidity, tracked by the VN30-Index, rose by 0.94 per cent to finish at 618.28 points.

With 55.8 million shares changing hands, the trading value reached VND885.7 billion or US$42 million.

The big gainers in the VN30 package included Vinamilk (VNM), the Da Nang Rubber Corporation (DRC) and Bao Viet Holdings (BVH). Only the Hoa Sen Group (HSG) lost VND700 per share this morning, while five codes remained unchanged..

On the Ha Noi Exchange, the HNX-Index rose by 0.86 per cent to end at 77.28 points, while the HNXFF-Index, comprising stocks with a minimum free float rate of 5 per cent, added 1.09 per cent to reach 77.78 points.

The HNX30-Index ended this morning at 155.56 points, 1.6 per cent higher.

The total trading volume reached 34.8 million shares, worth VND383.7 billion or $18.2 million.
