Blue chips, securities stocks help shares advance

Shares ended up on both national stock exchanges this morning after posting losses yesterday, boosted by gains of blue chips and securities stocks. However, liquidity was at a low level.

 

On HCM City Stock Exchange, the VN-Index edged up 0.33 per cent to 569.25 points on the exchange of modest 34 million shares, worth VND564.8 billioin ($26.6 million).

The VN30-Index, composed of the southern bourse's top stocks edged up 0.29 per cent to 615.59 points, registered by gains of Vingroup (VIC), Vinamilk (VNM) and Hoa Sen Group (HSG). Nine large-cap stocks posted losses this morning.

Securities stocks were also active this morning with Agribank Securities (AGR), BIDV Securities (BSI) and HCM City Securities (HCM) adding values.

Over all, there were 83 gainers and 72 losers.

On Ha Noi Exchange, the HNX-Index gained 0.12 per cent to 76.53 points while the HNXFF-Index closed flat at 76.99 points.

The HNX30-Index slightly advanced 0.06 per cent to 153.08 points.

With 16.9 million shares changing hands, the trading value was modest at VND196 billion ($9.2 million).
