CDC pledges faster, transparent reforms to boost Cambodia’s business climate
The Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC) has pledged rapid internal reforms to improve the nation’s business environment, protect investments, and transparently resolve private-sector challenges.

Deputy Prime Minister and CDC First Vice Chairman Sun Chanthol announced the plans yesterday during the closing ceremony of the 2nd Public-Private Sector Breakfast Briefing. The event was hosted by the American Chamber of Commerce in Cambodia (AmCham) under the direction of the CDC.
The briefing brought together top government officials, including Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Land Management, Urban Planning and Construction Say Samal; Minister of Mines and Energy Keo Rottanak; and Minister of Labour and Vocational Training Heng Sour.
Diplomatic representatives also attended, including the ambassador of the European Union and the chargés d’affaires of the United States and Japan. They were joined by leaders from international business chambers, including EuroCham, the Chinese Chamber of Commerce (CCCC), the Korean Chamber of Commerce (KOCHAM), and the Japanese Business Association of Cambodia (JBAC).
The event featured presentations and an open floor discussion, allowing international investors and development partners to voice requests and suggest policy inputs directly to officials. Organisers noted that these discussions will be monitored to ensure all outcomes are effectively implemented.
In his closing remarks, Chanthol reaffirmed the government’s commitment to timely reform, specifically highlighting internal CDC changes designed to enhance the institutional quality and efficiency of its core operations.
Chanthol pledged to take the day’s inputs into further consultations with stakeholders to find mutually beneficial solutions, adding that he looks forward to further progress at the 3rd Public-Private Breakfast Briefing.
