South Korean firms set sights on Cambodia as strategic gateway for expansion

Twenty South Korean companies are poised to enter or expand in Cambodia, targeting high-demand sectors such as education, healthcare, real estate, and cosmetics.

At a Cambodia-Korea business dinner in Seoul on Wednesday evening, Khuon Phon Rattanak, the Cambodian Ambassador to the Republic of Korea, met with more than 20 South Korean executives to discuss emerging opportunities in the Kingdom. The gathering aimed to provide South Korean business leaders with a comprehensive overview of Cambodia’s current trade and investment climate.

The participating firms primarily operate in education, healthcare, real estate, and cosmetics, all of which are seeing rising demand in the Cambodian market.

Ambassador Rattanak encouraged the executives to explore Cambodia’s high-potential industries, specifically highlighting Agriculture and Food Processing; Logistics and Construction; and Tourism and Green Energy (particularly through Official Development Assistance projects).

The Ambassador emphasised that Cambodia is a strategic gateway for South Korean firms seeking to scale across Southeast Asia.

He said that investors can leverage the robust frameworks of the ASEAN Free Trade Area, the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership, and the Cambodia-Korea bilateral Free Trade Agreement to secure competitive access to the wider regional market.
