Nestlé Vietnam honoured for sustainable agricultural value chain development

Nestle Vietnam has been named among the “Top 10 Outstanding FDI Enterprises” in the Sustainable Agricultural Value Chain Development category at the 25th Golden Dragon Awards, recognising the company’s long-term commitment to regenerative agriculture and sustainable development in Việt Nam.

Organised by VnEconomy, this year’s Golden Dragon Awards marked the programme’s 25th anniversary honouring foreign-invested enterprises operating in Việt Nam.

Nestlé Vietnam was recognised for its sustainable agricultural value chain model and contributions to transforming the country’s coffee and food industries. The company was also highly rated for its growth performance, regulatory compliance and environmental, social and governance (ESG) commitments.

Speaking at the ceremony, Lê Thị Hoài Thương, director of external affairs at Nestlé Vietnam, said the recognition reflected the company’s long-standing efforts to work alongside farmers and partners in building a sustainable agricultural ecosystem.

She added that the award would encourage the company to continue supporting sustainable development initiatives and contribute to Việt Nam’s long-term socio-economic growth.

Nestlé first established operations in Việt Nam in 1995 and has since expanded its presence with manufacturing facilities in Đồng Nai and Hưng Yên provinces, making Việt Nam a strategic link in the group’s global supply chain.

A key highlight of the company’s sustainability efforts is the NESCAFÉ Plan programme, launched in Việt Nam in 2011. Through the initiative, Nestlé has provided regenerative farming training and technical support to more than 21,000 coffee farming households in the Central Highlands.

According to the company, the programme has helped farmers improve productivity by between 30 and 100 per cent, while reducing irrigation water use by 40 per cent and cutting chemical fertiliser consumption by 20 per cent.

Nestlé has also invested heavily in deep-processing technologies, helping position Việt Nam as the group’s largest coffee production hub in the region. Coffee products made in Việt Nam are currently exported to more than 30 international markets, including demanding destinations such as the EU, the US and Japan.

This year’s Golden Dragon Awards highlighted the role of foreign-invested enterprises in promoting green growth, high technology and digital transformation in Việt Nam.

The organisers said the recognition of companies such as Nestlé Vietnam reflects the growing importance of combining international investment with local values to create sustainable and inclusive economic growth.
