Cambodia’s garment and footwear exports surge to $15.5 billion in 2025

Cambodia exported garments, footwear and travel goods worth $15.5 billion in 2025, representing a 15.7% year-on-year increase, according to a Ministry of Commerce report released on Monday.

The sector continues to be the kingdom’s main source of foreign currency, making up about 50% of Cambodia’s total exports. According to the report:

• Garments: Exports reached $11.4 billion, up 16.5% from the previous year.

• Footwear: Shipments to international markets rose 24.5% to $2.09 billion.

• Travel goods: Exports totalled $2.02 billion, a 3.8% increase.

Data from the Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training shows that the industry currently consists of more than 1,500 factories and branches. It employs over 900,000 workers, the majority of whom are women.

Thong Mengdavid, deputy director of the China-ASEAN Studies Centre at the Cambodia University of Technology and Science, said the double-digit growth reflects Cambodia’s successful efforts to diversify its markets beyond traditional trading partners.

“I think the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) agreement has also given a boost to this growth,” Mengdavid told Xinhua. “This upward trend is likely to continue this year, supported by external demand and new investment inflows from China, South Korea and Japan.”
