P Sihanouk showcased as model SEZ at ASEAN-China Mayors’ Forum

Long Dimanche, Deputy Governor of the Preah Sihanouk Provincial Administration, addressing the “ASEAN-China Mayors’ Forum 2025” in Guilin, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, presented the Master Plan for Developing Preah Sihanouk Province as a Model Multi-Purpose Special Economic Zone, according to a statement released on Sunday.

The forum, held under the theme “Building a Better Home Together – Jointly Advancing Sustainable Urban Development in China and ASEAN,” on September 2025 brought together more than 950 participants, including delegates from ASEAN member states and observers such as Brunei, Cambodia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Thailand, Vietnam, and Timor-Leste, as well as representatives of multinational enterprises.

In his presentation, Dimanche highlighted Preah Sihanouk Province’s strategic advantages, including its prime location, favourable government policies, and robust support mechanisms for investors. He underlined potential growth areas such as industry, agro-industry, modern transport and logistics, stressing that these sectors remain open for significant foreign investment.

Co-organised by the China Association of Mayors and the Department of Housing and Urban-Rural Development of Guangxi, the forum aimed to deepen China–ASEAN ties, exchange updates on urbanisation projects, and share best practices and technologies relevant to the construction and urban development sectors.
