Cambodian exports of garments, shoes, travel goods up 19 pct in Jan.-Aug.

Cambodia exported garments, textiles, shoes, and travel goods, totalling $10.97 billion in the first eight months of 2025, up 19 percent from $9.21 billion over the same period last year, said an official report on Friday.

Garments worth $7.73 billion were exported during the January-August period this year, a year-on-year increase of 19 per cent, said the report compiled by the Ministry of Commerce, adding that textiles worth $449 million were shipped to international markets, up almost 35 per cent.

Also, $1.4 billion worth of footwear was exported, up 28 per cent, while travel goods and bags, equivalent to $1.39 billion, were sold to international markets, up nearly 6 per cent, the report added.

The garment, textile, footwear, and travel goods sector is the largest foreign exchange earner for the Southeast Asian country.

The sector currently consists of more than 1,500 factories and branches, employing over 900,000 workers, mostly women, according to the Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training.

Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet announced Wednesday that the kingdom would raise the monthly minimum wage for the garment, textile, footwear, and travel goods industry to $210 for 2026 from the current $208.
