Kingdom’s trade with ASEAN shoots up to nearly $11B
The main products Cambodia exports to ASEAN include garments, travel goods, bags, solar panels, tires, and agricultural products such as rice, cashew nuts, durians and bananas.
Cambodia’s trade volume with its fellow ASEAN member states reached $10.96 billion in the first eight months of 2025, up 4.5 percent compared to the same period last year, said an official report from the Ministry of Commerce on Wednesday.
The Kingdom exported products worth $3.98 billion to other ASEAN countries during the January-August period this year, up 16 percent year-on-year, while its total import amounted to $6.98 billion, down 1.16 percent, read the report.
Cambodia’s trade volume with ASEAN accounted for 25.62 percent of the Kingdom’s total trade volume of $42.8 billion in the first eight months of 2025.
The Kingdom’s top five trading partners in ASEAN are Vietnam, Thailand, Singapore, Indonesia, and Malaysia, the report added.
Lim Heng, Vice-President of the Cambodia Chamber of Commerce, attributes Cambodia’s increased exports to ASEAN to the strategic implementation of free trade agreements like ASEAN, the RCEP, and bilateral FTAs.
Speaking with Khmer Times, Heng said, “These agreements provide access to new markets, attract investment by offering trade preferences, and promote economic growth for Cambodian businesses.”
According to the MoC, the main products the country exported to ASEAN included garments, shoes, travel goods, bags, solar panels, car tires, electronics, and agricultural products such as rice, cashew nuts, rubber latex, cassava, durians and bananas.
According to MoC, it is developing the FTA portal to empower businesses and maximise the benefits of the country’s various trade agreements.
The FTA portal aims to provide a comprehensive online platform with essential information and resources to help businesses navigate and leverage Cambodia’s expanding trade partnerships, the ministry said.
