Nghe An plans to revoke approvals from two solar power plants

Nghe An's Department of Finance has asked the local People's Committee to revoke approvals from two solar power plants worth VND7.8 trillion ($720 million).

Two delayed $720 million solar power projects in Nghe An proposed to be withdrawn

The first project is the Vuc Mau Lake farm, proposed by Vuc Mau Lake Solar Power JSC, with a capacity of 200 MWp, an initial annual electricity output of 265.8 million kWh, and a total investment of VND3.7 trillion ($148 million).

The second one is the 250 MWp Khe Go Lake project, proposed by Khe Go Lake Solar Power JSC, worth VND4.1 trillion ($164 million) and covering 303.48 hectares.

These two projects were approved for investment by Nghe An People’s Committee in March 2022 through a bidding process.

According to the Department of Finance, the projects were expected to be connected to the grid and operational by December 2023. However, to date, the investor selection process has not been completed, resulting in a delay of 17 months beyond the approved timeline.

Based on the national power development plan, a review of relevant details, and directives from Nghe An People’s Committee, the Department of Finance has recommended revoking the investment approval decisions for these two solar power projects.
