Realty stocks gain as investor interest grows

Stocks closed higher this morning on both the stock exchanges, as money flowed into the real estate stocks.

On the HCM Stock Exchange, the VN-Index added 0.44 per cent to stand at 580.63 points, while the VN30, which tracks the top 30 shares by market capitalisation and liquidity, was up 0.53 per cent to close at 621.26 points.

Trading was modest with 56 million shares, worth VND853 billion or US$40.4 million, being exchanged by the end of the morning.

The real estate shares attracted the investors most, with four of the five most active stocks this morning being from this sector. These were the Tan Tao Investment Industry (ITA), the FLC Group (FLC), Hoang Quan Consulting Trading Service Real Estate (HQC) and Kinh Bac City Development (KBC). ITA's stocks saw the highest trading, with nearly 5 million shares jumping 2.5 per cent to end at VND8,300 per share.

On the Ha Noi Stock Exchange, the HNX-Index also gained 0.49 per cent to end at 78.46 points.

Trading was sluggish however, as only 22 million shares worth VND257.5 million or 12.2 million were traded by the end of the session.

The Kim Long Securities Company (KLS) was the most active stock, with over 3 million of its shares being traded at VND12,500 each.

The afternoon trading session will start at 1pm.
