AEON Vietnam to open AEON Hải Dương Shopping Centre in October

AEON Vietnam will officially open the AEON Hải Dương Shopping Centre on October 3, marking the group’s 10th shopping centre in Việt Nam and the first medium-sized shopping centre in the Red River Delta region.

This is also the third medium-sized shopping centre in Việt Nam, following the AEON Tân An Shopping Centre in Tây Ninh Province and AEON MALL Đà Nẵng Thanh Khê in Đà Nẵng City, as the company accelerates its expansion into regional cities.

Tezuka Daisuke, executive officer and chief Vietnam business officer of AEON Group and general director of AEON Vietnam, announced the plans at a press conference on Thursday.

Daisuke said that under AEON Group's medium-term business plan for 2026-30, the firm considers Việt Nam as a key strategic market for business investment and development, second only to Japan.

According to the executive officer, AEON Group's total operating revenue in Việt Nam reached approximately US$624 million in 2025, more than 2.5 times the 2019 figure.

Daisuke said that the retail sector's market share in Việt Nam currently remains below 20 per cent, leaving significant room for future growth.

He noted that the group has set an ambitious goal to triple its revenue by 2030 by allocating up to 60 per cent of its ASEAN investment capital to Việt Nam, aiming to modernise the country's retail landscape, bring a modern lifestyle to local customers and contribute to local economic development.

To achieve this, AEON is diversifying its business models, ranging from large 'Mega Malls' in major urban centres to small- and medium-sized supermarkets like MaxValu, designed to penetrate densely populated residential areas.

A key highlight is the company's unprecedented growth, evidenced by the successive opening of projects in Hải Dương, Thanh Hóa, Hạ Long and Đà Nẵng, all aimed at flexibly meeting the rapidly evolving consumer demands of the Vietnamese people.

Located in Thạch Khôi Ward, Hải Phòng City, AEON Hải Dương Shopping Centre is a medium-sized modern retail destination designed to serve the growing needs of local communities. The centre features a three-story building with a total floor area of approximately 38,100sq.m and a gross leasable area of approximately 26,000sq.m.

The centre includes an AEON sales area of approximately 15,000sq.m. alongside 37 specialty stores, offering customers a diverse combination of retail, dining, lifestyle and entertainment options. With parking capacity for approximately 600 cars and 1,100 motorcycles, the centre is designed to provide convenient access for a large number of visitors.

With approximately 1,000 employees, including 450 AEON Hải Dương GMS employees, AEON Hải Dương Shopping Centre is expected to become an important retail and community destination, contributing to the development of the local commercial environment and providing a convenient and comfortable shopping experience for customers.
