NBC, USABC discuss financial services expansion
Outlining the American companies’ interest and readiness to invest in the Kingdom, Brian McFeeters says the visit aims to bolster cooperation and attract US investment, particularly in digital finance, human resource development and support for small and medium enterprises.

In a bid to accelerate fintech growth and attract more American investment, the National Bank of Cambodia (NBC) and the US-ASEAN Business Council (USABC) Wednesday discussed new framework mechanisms for bilateral financial services cooperation.
Governor of the National Bank of Cambodia Chea Serey and the US-ASEAN Business Council (USABC) President and CEO Brian McFeeters held wide-ranging talks on cooperation in financial services.
The meeting, attended by senior NBC officials and representatives of US firms operating in Cambodia, focused on strengthening ties between the US private sector and Cambodian stakeholders and exploring new investment opportunities to support Cambodia’s economic development.
McFeeters said the delegation’s visit aims to bolster cooperation and attract US investment, particularly in digital finance, human resource development and support for small and medium enterprises. He highlighted American companies’ interest and readiness to invest in the Kingdom.
Participants also discussed ways to deepen collaboration between the NBC and the US private sector to support financial-sector development and promote sustainable economic growth.
Welcoming the delegation, Serey shared insights on Cambodia’s economic outlook and banking sector.
She stressed the importance of the economic partnership with the United States, one of Cambodia’s main export markets, and noted that US investment has helped create jobs, develop skills, diversify the economy and introduce international standards.
“We welcome the delegation’s continued engagement as a positive step toward deeper mutual understanding and greater investment, particularly in higher value-added and technology-driven sectors,” Serey said.
Such engagement supports Cambodia’s ongoing shift toward a more diversified and innovation-driven economy, Serey added.
She also praised cooperation with a US-based international payment network in developing the Bakong Tourists programme, which facilitates cashless payments for international visitors, supports local businesses and promotes use of the riel.
The Bakong Tourists app enables visitors to pay via universal KHQR codes at more than 3.3 million merchants, from street food vendors to tuk-tuks, without a local bank account.
The US-ASEAN Business Council has long served as a bridge between ASEAN governments and the American private sector.
The United States remains one of Cambodia’s most important trading partners and its largest export market.
The delegation includes representatives from companies working in healthcare, manufacturing, energy, financial services, digital technology, and hospitality.
These companies represent the best of what America has to offer, setting the global standard for quality, innovation, transparency, and regulatory compliance.
The delegation was also exploring cooperation in healthcare, transportation and logistics, digital trade, energy, and critical minerals, while ensuring fair market access and responsible supply chains.
