Cambodia advances ‘Village Francophone’ plans for 2026 summit

An inter-ministerial task force finalised the operational blueprint for the upcoming “Village Francophone” exhibition, a key side-event of the 20th Francophonie Summit, officials announced on June 11.

The strategy session was co-chaired by the National Committee for the Organisation of the 20th Francophonie Summit Vice-Chairman and Tourism Minister Huot Hak, alongside the Ministry of Women’s Affairs Minister Ing Kantha Phavi. The meeting gathered over 100 state officials, foreign ambassadors, and business leaders to coordinate logistics.

The cultural and economic exhibition is scheduled to run across five days from November 13 to 17 at Phnom Penh’s Wat Botum Park. Organisers project the venue will draw over 100,000 international visitors and media delegates across six designated sectors, including national pavilions, a gastronomic hub, and a local trade pavilion.

Minister Hak said that the event serves as a premier international platform to highlight local hospitality under the official promotional theme, “The Cambodian Smile is the Francophonie Smile.” He added that the exhibition will display the heritage of more than 90 member states alongside domestic agricultural and commercial goods.

The main Francophonie Summit brings together heads of state from the International Organisation of La Francophonie to manage high-level accords on politics, global trade, education, and cultural diplomacy.
