Cambodian state ports report record revenue surge on back of global trade boom
Cambodia’s primary state-owned ports recorded a sharp spike in annual revenue through 2025, driven by a robust increase in international trade, according to a Ministry of Public Works and Transport report released yesterday.

The Sihanoukville Autonomous Port (PAS), the nation’s largest deep-sea gateway, saw its gross revenue climb to $151.5 million last year, representing a 35% increase from the $112 million recorded the previous year. The ministry’s annual conference report noted that the listed seaport handled 12.3 million tonnes of containerised cargo, a year-on-year rise of 25.7%.
Simultaneously, the Phnom Penh Autonomous Port (PPAP), the country’s second-largest container hub and primary freshwater facility, reported a 23.6% increase in total revenue, reaching $53.3 million compared to $43.1 million in 2024. The river port accommodated 5.6 million tonnes of containerised goods last year, up 15.6% from the year before.
Speaking at the ministry’s annual conference, Minister of Public Works and Transport Peng Ponea attributed the notable increase in earnings to the expanding trade volumes between Cambodia and the rest of the world. He further noted that the government is currently implementing several development projects at the Sihanoukville facility, with the specific aim of transforming the existing feeder port into a sophisticated regional logistics centre.
