ASEAN tour operators keen to promote Cambodia

Private tourism operators from across ASEAN have expressed strong interest in Cambodia’s tourism sector, highlighting the country’s political stability, rich cultural heritage and growing potential for regional tourism cooperation.

The remarks were made by Cambodia’s Minister of Tourism Huot Hak recently during a meeting held on the sidelines of the ASEAN Tourism Forum 2026 with representatives of 18 private tourism companies from various ASEAN Member States.

The meeting brought together around 30 participants, including the President of the Cambodia Tourism Association (CATA), the Chief Executive Officer of the Cambodia Tourism Board (CTB), senior officials from the Ministry of Tourism and other tourism stakeholders.

Discussions focused on strategies to promote international tourist arrivals to Cambodia and explore opportunities for future collaboration between public and private sectors.

During the meeting, Huot Hak briefed ASEAN tourism operators on Cambodia’s current situation, emphasizing peace, security, public order and macroeconomic stability as key foundations supporting tourism development and investment.

He described Cambodia as a safe and attractive destination offering diverse tourism experiences, including cultural and natural attractions, cuisine, traditions, ancient history and the hospitality of its people.

According to the Ministry of Tourism, ASEAN tourism operators responded positively and expressed enthusiasm about Cambodia’s tourism prospects. Many showed interest in visiting the Kingdom to further assess opportunities for developing tour packages for international markets.

The operators also indicated readiness to work closely with Cambodia’s private sector and the Cambodia Tourism Board to promote Cambodia as a competitive destination within the ASEAN tourism landscape.
