CDC has approved 44 French QIPs worth $380 million since 1994

The Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC) has approved 44 Qualified Investment Projects (QIPs) from French companies, amounting to a total of $380 million since 1994. These investments have contributed significantly to Cambodia’s development through the transfer of technology, knowledge, skills, innovation, and entrepreneurial spirit.

This information was shared by Nut-Un Voanra, Deputy Secretary General of the Cambodian Investment Board at the CDC, during a meeting with a French delegation led by François Corbin, Special Representative of the French Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs for Economic Relations with ASEAN, and Chair of the France-Cambodia Business Council at MEDEF International, at the CDC headquarters late last week.

On the occasion, Voanra welcomed the delegation’s visit, which aimed to gain deeper insights into Cambodia’s socio-economic progress.

He also recalled the successful outcomes of the Cambodia-France Business Forum held earlier this year during the official visit of Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet to France. He further highlighted a productive bilateral meeting between the Deputy Prime Minister and CDC First Vice President Sun Chanthol and Mr. Corbin in November last year.

Voanra expressed gratitude to the Government of France and French private enterprises for their ongoing support in what he described as “a new chapter” in Cambodia’s modern development journey.

He expressed optimism that France would continue to play a key role in enhancing understanding of Cambodia’s investment climate and competitive potential, and in encouraging French businesses to explore future investment opportunities in the Kingdom.

In response, Corbin praised Cambodia’s rapid development and commended the Royal Government’s ambition to achieve upper-middle-income status by 2030 and high-income status by 2050.

He also expressed hope for the successful hosting of the 20th Francophonie Summit in Siem Reap province next year, citing Cambodia’s growing international reputation and its strong commitment to bilateral and multilateral cooperation in areas such as policy, economy, society, and culture.

Investment opportunities in sectors including civil aviation, logistics, energy, and wholesale and retail were also discussed, with both sides and stakeholders exchanging views on potential areas for collaboration.
