The prestigious industrial exhibition series in Việt Nam, including the Vietnam Manufacturing Expo 2025 (VME) and the Vietnam–Japan Supporting Industries Exhibition 2025 (SIE), officially opened at the Hanoi International Center for Exhibition (ICE) on Wednesday.

This event marks 17 years of collaboration with the manufacturing industry and more than two decades of sustainable co-operation between Việt Nam and Japan in developing the supporting industries.

The VME and SIE exhibitions mark a strong return with the participation of over 200 leading brands, including international pavilions from China, Japan and Singapore.

Representing the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT), Vũ Bá Phú, director General of Vietnam Trade Promotion Agency (Vietrade), emphasised that the country’s supporting industries were gradually establishing their critical role in the global production chain, especially amid the strong shift of supply chains in Southeast Asia.

Phú said the biennial event, held in Việt Nam on a large scale, would continue to provide practical opportunities for Vietnamese supporting industry businesses to access and learn about new market trends, meet potential partners and contribute significantly to the strong and sustainable transformation of Việt Nam’s supporting industries.

Haruhiko Ozasa, chief representative of Japan External Trade Organisation (JETRO) in Hà Nội, shared that 20 Japanese companies wanted to purchase raw materials and components from Vietnamese companies, while 20 Vietnamese companies were seeking to supply materials to Japanese businesses participating in the exhibition.

This year’s SIE exhibition would contribute to the development of Việt Nam’s supporting industries, further promote the purchase of raw materials and components from Vietnamese suppliers by Japanese companies and strengthen the partnership between the two countries, he added.

Data from the National Statistics Office (NSO) shows that the value-added growth of the entire industrial sector raised by 8.1 per cent in the first half of this year compared to the same period last year, with the manufacturing sector growing by 10.1 per cent.
