In coordination with local authorities to verify information related to the victims of the Vịnh Xanh 58 boat capsizing incident that occurred on July 19, Shinhan Life Vietnam confirmed that one of the victims was a policyholder of the company.

Following confirmation, the company promptly contacted the policyholder’s family to guide them through the claim procedure. The company's insurance agent visited the family to extend condolences, offer encouragement, and assist in gathering the necessary documents to expedite the benefit claim process.

After the seamless claim assessment, Shinhan Life Vietnam paid an insurance benefit of more than VNĐ78 million (approximately US$2,977) to the family of the victim. The deceased was insured under a credit life insurance through the bancassurance distribution channel of Shinhan Life Vietnam, with the policy issued in 2022.

As of June 30, 2025, after more than three years of official operation, Shinhan Life Vietnam has settled 280 claims with a total payout of over VNĐ6 billion.

According to the latest update from the Ministry of Finance’s Department of Insurance Supervisory Authority, in addition to Shinhan Life, seven other life insurance companies have also processed claims and paid out over VNĐ14 billion to the victims of the same incident.

The prompt support for policyholders in handling insurance claims not only helps address immediate financial needs but also reaffirms the role of life insurance in providing protection during unforeseen events and risks.
