Cambodian business represented at WEF’s ‘Summer Davos’ in China

The World Economic Forum’s Annual Meeting of the New Champions, often referred to as ‘Summer Davos,’ commenced yesterday in Dalian, China, with a focus on the theme ‘Next Frontiers for Growth’.

The event opened with a high-profile session featuring Premier Li Qiang of China, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh of Vietnam and President Andrzej Duda of Poland.

Among the 1,600 global leaders from nearly 80 countries in attendance is Neak Oknha Sear Rithy, Chairman of Cambodia’s WorldBridge Group. As the Forum’s only Cambodian Associate Member, Rithy is engaging in discussions on key topics for the ASEAN region, including the digital economy, e-payments and workforce development.

Rithy was notably present in sessions with Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and other prominent business figures from Asia including the Informal Gathering of World Leaders (IGWEL) lunch.

This year’s Summer Davos delves into the challenges and opportunities arising from a rapidly evolving global landscape. The gathering serves as a crucial platform for leaders from diverse sectors to collaborate and forge innovative solutions to drive global economic recovery.

The event’s agenda is organized around six key pillars: the evolving global economy, China’s role in the world, entrepreneurship in the age of AI, new frontiers for industries, investment in human capital, and the interconnectedness of climate, nature, and energy.

With a strong emphasis on collaboration and knowledge exchange, Summer Davos 2024 is poised to shape the future of global economic growth and development.

The meeting will be accessible to a global audience through live streaming of over 50 sessions, including discussions on the China Economic Outlook and international cooperation in an increasingly competitive world.
