The agricultural sector has remained strong and resilient due to the proactive and effective implementation of government policies.
Cambodia generated more than $2.87 billion in export revenue from crop products during the first six months of 2025, according to a report released by the General Department of Agriculture of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (MAFF), yesterday.
The report, based on data from the National Phytosanitary Database System and released by the Agricultural and Rural Development Bank (ARDB), showed that Cambodia exported more than 7.8 million tonnes of agricultural products, marking a 27.66 percent increase compared to the same period in 2024.
Cambodia exported more than 4.2 million tonnes of non-rice agricultural products, over 3.1 million tonnes of paddy, and more than 380,000 tonnes of milled rice in the first half of 2025.
The total crop export revenue reached $2.87 billion, of which non-rice exports accounted for over $1.926 billion, paddy rice exports earned more than $638 million, and milled rice exports generated over $307 million.
Speaking at the 20th National Fish Day last week in Takeo province, Prime Minister Hun Manet emphasised that the Royal Government continues to prioritise food security, the improvement of people’s livelihoods, and sustainable economic growth by maintaining a careful balance between conservation and development.
“In fact, through the proactive and effective implementation of government policies, Cambodia’s agricultural sector has remained strong and resilient,” said the Prime Minister.
“It continues to play a vital role in mitigating negative impacts on the national economy—helping the country avoid food crises and malnutrition, while also contributing to stabilising food prices.
This has been achieved despite multiple natural disasters in Cambodia and ongoing global crises.”
Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Dith Tina also stated that under the leadership of Prime Minister Hun Manet, all leaders and officials at the ministry have been working diligently to implement the Pentagonal Strategy Phase 1, particularly focusing on Priority Policy Programs 5 and 6.
The minister noted that despite various challenges in 2024 including floods, El Niño, and pest outbreaks, Cambodia’s agricultural sector achieved remarkable results.
Tina further said that the country produced a total yield of 36 million tonnes, ensured full domestic food security, and exported 12 million tonnes of agricultural products to 95 countries, generating approximately $5.3 billion in export revenue.
“Overall, Cambodia’s agricultural sector has transformed from traditional subsistence farming—once dependent on foreign food aid—into a modern, technology-driven industry. Through increased mechanisation, diversification, and the promotion of horticulture, the sector now not only ensures complete food security under all conditions, but also enables the export of millions of tonnes of agricultural products, generating billions of dollars in foreign exchange and contributing significantly to national economic growth,” Tina added.
