Forestry Cooperative Alliance in Phu Yen develops region with Japanese partners

The Forestry Cooperative Alliance in Phu Yen province worked with foreign experts of Sumitomo Forestry Group from Japan to develop the region with an area of 8,000 hectares.

 

According to the alliance, the Phu Yen high-tech forestry cooperative currently manages 4,700 hectares of plantations.

By 2023, the alliance will cooperate with Phu Yen high-tech cooperative and Bao Chau Phu Yen Co., Ltd to establish a new cooperation with the participation of households to further develop the region for the Japanese partner.

According to the Phu Yen Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, the province planted forests on a total area of over 32,040 hectares, of which 30,395 hectares are meant for production and 1,645 hectares for protection and special uses.

The forest covers about 243,876 hectares, including 127,943 hectares of natural forest, 98,588 hectares of planted forest, and 17,345 hectares of planted immatured forest. The forest coverage rate in the province was at 45.09 per cent by 2020.

Tran Dang Khoa, general director of Bao Chau Phu Yen, said that the company is currently affiliated with local forest management boards and forestry cooperatives to plant nearly 5,000 hectares of forest.
