Dong Nai to develop distinctive tourism products from local cultures
In recent years, Dong Nai is no longer a stranger on the tourist map. Endowed by Mother Nature together with the rich local cultures and increasing investment in tourism, Dong Nai has become a site attraction to many people. To further develop its tourism activities, Dong Nai is set to promote local cultures as the key aspect of its offerings.

The province is currently home to 36 minor ethnicities, some with a large population, including Choro, Ma, Stieng, K'ho, Hoa, Champa, Khmer, Tay, Nung, Muong among others. Some long-standing ethnicities, such as the Choro, Ma, Stieng, K’ho are also called indigenous or local ethnic groups.
These indigenous ethnic groups reside on mountainous terrains or in remote forest areas such as Tan Phu, Dịnh Quan, Xuan Loc, Vinh Cuu. Their cultural identities are so unique and diverse with polytheistic religion, Sayangva festival of the Choro, new rice festival of the Ma, religious festivals of the Champa, the maturity ritual of the Dao, Long Tong (meaning going to the field) Festival of the Tay, Ong Pagoda festival of the Hoa, and many more.
Those identities are vividly communicated through various types of spiritual culture, costumes, festivals, folk games, crafts, cuisine, customs, and communities. It is thanks to this uniqueness and diversity that attract tourists coming to the province to explore and experience the province’s traditional cultures. This type of tourism is also considered by the provincial government as a suitable tourism development trend today.
Developing commercial tourism with the preservation and promotion of traditional values is an important task, as it helps the tourism industry move toward sustainability while overcoming seasonality issues. To achieve this goal, efforts were given to marketing activities to promote the distinctive cultural characteristics of ethnic groups to both domestic and international travelers in many forms. It will also serve as the springboard for tourism to bounce back after the Covid-19 pandemic.
Dong Nai has many famous tourist attractions with beautiful and wild natural landscapes like the Cat Tien National Park, Chua Chan Mountain, Dong Nai River, Tri An Lake and the hot spring; not to mention 57 recognized relics and 1,500 other popular monuments...
