Vinacomin Power emphasizes safe production for sustainable development
In the 12 years since its establishment, the Vinacomin Power Holding Corporation (Vinacomin Power) has invested in applying modern technology in production in order to ensure business efficiency and protect the environment, enhancing the value of Vietnam’s coal resources.
A member unit of the Vietnam National Coal and Mineral Industries Holding Corporation Limited (Vinacomin), the corporation has created a major source of power supply, significantly contributing to ensuring national energy security. Ngo Tri Thinh, General Director of the corporation, said the company pays special attention to environmental protection. The corporation and its member units always abide by environmental protection regulations of the state and the guidance of the prime minister, not seeking profits at the expense of endangering the environment. A model campaign has been launched to build “green, clean and beautiful” production facilities, resulting in improved appearance of its production facilities.
Vinacomin Power’s production facilities were built to incorporate environmental protection. The thermal power plants of Na Duong, Cao Ngan, Son Dong and Dong Trieu use cooling towers, while the thermal power plants of Cam Pha and Nong Son use once-through circulating water systems which enable tight control of water according to QCVN 40:2011/BTNMT standards before being discharged to rivers and the sea.
The corporation also attaches great importance to fire and explosion prevention and occupational safety and hygiene. Its workers are provided with sufficient protective clothing and safety training. Vinacomin Power strives to improve working conditions and create a safe working environment for its employees.
The corporation maintains occupational safety and environmental protection inspections at its member units every six months, in coordination with relevant ministries, sectors, localities and following the direct guidance of Vinacomin.
The corporation has issued a regulation on environmental management and protection, applied to its member units.
For its continuous efforts, Vinacomin Power has received many certificates of merit and rewards, including 14 high-profile banners presented by ministries, sectors and central unions, two Third-class Labor Medals, and three certificates of merit from the prime minister. In 2017 and 2019, the corporation received certificates of merit from the Minister of Industry and Trade for successful results in fire and explosion prevention.
