VIWELCO pursues sustainable development

VIWELCO’s welding rod has become a reliable choice of key projects in Vietnam and the region. This achievement is attributed to the strenuous efforts by company leadership and employees of different generations over the past 54 years.

Constantly investing in technology upgrades and applying technical initiatives to improve product quality and environmental protection, the Viet Duc Welding Electrode Joint Stock Company (VIWELCO) is striving to become the largest manufacturer and supplier of welding products and materials in Vietnam and Southeast Asia.

VIWELCO’s welding products and materials meet international standards

As an experienced enterprise in the field, VIWELCO has two production bases, in the capital – Hanoi – and Hai Duong Province. The Hanoi-based facility is equipped with eight advanced production lines (including six German and two Chinese technology lines), while the Hai Duong-based factory is equipped with seven German and Italian technology lines with a total capacity of more than 6,000 tonnes of product per year. In addition, VIWELCO has factories equipped with advanced machinery and technology to produce more than 1,800 tonnes of W71-TVD cored welding wire per year.

Every year, VIWELCO produces and provides the market with 10,000 tonnes of electric welding rods and materials of 28 different types, and almost 4,000 tonnes of welding wire of all kinds, earning an annual average profit of over VND40 billion. The company pays its employees monthly an average of more than VND9 million per capita. In 2016, VIWELCO became a top-100 enterprise in Vietnam in terms of corporate income tax payment.

The company’s director Nguyen Huy Tien said VIWELCO’s welding products have been granted the ISO 9001:2015 certification by the QMS (Australia) and Quacert (Vietnam) and certified by the Nippon Kaiji Kyokai (Japan), ABS (USA), Det Norske Veritas (Norway), Bureau Veritas (France), and the Vietnam Register.

VIWELCO pursues sustainable development

Technology renovation and standardization help VIWELCO create international standard products and ensure environmental protection and occupational safety, which are the top priorities at the company. A recent periodical environmental survey at the company by the Ministry of Industry and Trade’s Occupational Health and Environment Center showed that the levels of dust, toxic gas, water, wastewater, light, and noise indicators all meet the standards.

According to Tien, production development pertaining to environmental protection is crucial for the company to reach sustainable development, improve employees’ incomes and contribute to the community.

The company has been awarded First-, Second-, and Third-class Labor Orders, a Third-class Military Merit Medal, prime ministerial high-profile banners and certificates of merit, and Gold Cups for enterprises with strong brands and sustainable development.
