Lao Freight Forwarder predicts stable shipments
Lao Freight Forwarder Co., Ltd expects that the number of people using shipment services this year will be stable as most of its existing customers are still confident in the services it offers.
During the last three year period from 2013-2105, different domestic and foreign companies have still been using the services of Lao Freight Forwarder, Deputy Managing Director, MrSomphonePhasavath told Vientiane Times last week.
In 2013, the company received orders for 4,379 shipments of freight, an increase of 4,783 shipments on 2014 and 6,053 shipments in 2015, he reported.
As its presence as a freight forwarder grew, the company has paid increasing amounts of tax in line with its obligations to the government.
In 2013, Lao Freight Forwarder paid 1.28 billion kip in tax obligations to the government budget. In 2014, this figure increased to 1.35 billion kip and 3.5 billion kip in 2015, MrSomphone explained.
The company has seen its operations progressing well until the present as it has more than 30 years of experience in the field and its customers have confidence in the services of the company.
Lao Freight Forwarder is also a member of regional transport networks and cooperates with different foreign transport service companies throughout the region and the world, he said.
After the country integrated with the Asean Economic Community (AEC) this year, the company is still operating without any challenges but he was not sure yet as to what the future holds.
Lao Freight Forwarder Co., Ltd was established in 1987, splitting from the former Road Transport Company.
It is now the biggest such company in Laos and is able to provide speedy, reliable, and safe delivery, transport and packing services for the import –export goods by inland waterway, overland, abroad and throughout the world.
The company is the only state-owned company in the freight forwarding industry which is highly efficient and contributing notably to socio-economic development in Laos.
The company is also basing its operations on present world experience; shipments from the warehouse to the point of destination generally go through several phases of transport such as land, waterway, sea and air.
Transport via several stages and modes entails strains and expenses to the goods owners and carriers in order to assist them.
Freight forwarding companies have been established in most countries of the world to act as coordinating agents between owners and carriers and ensure speedy and reliable shipment of goods.
