Business to promote local products abroad

Alocal company told Vientiane Times yesterday that this year they planned to export coffee to Singapore and France aiming to promote the local product to the world.

K/N Agricultural Development Import Export Company would like to expand their market as wide as possible but they are just starting with these two countries before continuing on to others in the future.

The company explained that they are still young in the business but they had big plans and would be interested in exporting other Lao products.

The company is located in the Kongtoung village, Pakxong district of Champassak province. The major business of the company has been planting coffee seeds on 229 ha using almost 100 local labourers and selling the product in domestic and foreign markets.

In 2014 the company harvested only 1,500 tonnes of coffee which they sold on the domestic market. This year seems to be better than last year because the company believes it will get 3,000 tonnes, double its previous harvest, which is why they feel able to look at exports.

Along with doubling their harvest and starting to export they now have plans to expand the factory and produce an instant coffee as well.

K/N Agricultural Development Import Export Company may be a young business but they have ambitious plans and high hopes for the future.
