SEZ developer gives boost to rural development
Developer of the Dongphosy Specific Economic Zone (DSEZ), the UPL Lao Co., Ltd., has contributed 30 million kip to support Rural Infrastructure Development Initiatives under the Ministry of National Defence.
The company's Director of Protocol and Gover nment Affairs, Mr Dasith Bounleuth, representing the company, handed over the financial contribution to the ministry on September 28. It was received by the ministry's Deputy Head of Office, Brigadier General Khamsy Vongkhamsao.
The contribution is part of the company's undertaking to support and contribute to the ministry's development initiatives in Laos.
The contribution will be channelled into the building of infrastructure in the nation's remote areas and provide aid to low-income households.
UPL Lao Co., Ltd. has been in Laos for several years and is the master developer and concession holder of the DSEZ, located in Dongphosy village in Hadxaifong district, Vientiane, next to the first Lao-Thai Friendship Bridge.
The 53.9 hectare development is set to be the nation's first Retail and Commercial focused Specific Economic Zone, and is an amalgamation of efforts between UPL and its diverse portfolio of American, Singaporean, Malaysian and Chinese investors/business partners.
Commercially known as Vientiane Nelamit, the development is a self-sustainable micro-city containing an integrated resort, modern hospital, premium outlets, residential and mixed development plazas, and 340 multi-use shophouses.
In addition, UPL will be working with international anchor tenants to operate its DIY depot, Hypermarket and Retail Mall to cater to rising consumer demand in Vientiane.
The company began the mobilisation of its DSEZ project site earlier this month in preparation for this November's Phase 1 construction of the 53.9 ha zone's entire infrastructure and its 340 shophouses. Scheduled to be completed in February 2018, the DSEZ development abides by the International Building Code (IBC) best practices in America, as a part of its commitment to provide sterling quality and sustainable structures as a part of Vientiane's architectural landscape.
