BS Capital Lao presents Korean language scholarships

Recognised as a new leasing company in Laos, BS Capital Lao, a part of BNK Financial Group of the Republic of Korea, has awarded Korean language scholarships to two students at the National University of Laos.

The scholarships recipients are Mr Xaypanya Sivongphat and Mr Long Keopaseuth; both are year four students at Faculty of Letters' Department of Korean language.

The scholarshi ps were handed over at the company's offices on September 30. The ceremony was attended by Managing Director of BS Capital Lao Leasing Mr Ryu Hui-Seok, Director of BS Capital Lao Leasing Mr Ha Jeongsoo, teachers and other company officials.

The scholarships will cover the students' fees for the duration of their courses and have been awarded to outstanding students as part of the company's corporate social responsibility scheme.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr Ryu said the company funded the scholarships to help students and contribute to human resource development, saying “Strong human resources will help to raise living standards to those of other nations.”

Mr Ryu said tha t he believed the scholarship recipients would work towards helping socio-economic development by promoting growth and reducing poverty, lifting Lao living standards to international levels.

He said the scholarship programme was a meaningful investment by the company, and their mother company in Korea, in the future of Laos and he was confident it would pave the way for more prosperous and mutually beneficial relations between Korea and Laos.

Mr Ryu said the company was very pleased to award scholarships to Lao students. “Our firm is very happy to help Lao society, especially outstand ing students, and is willing to provide more scholarships to other students in the future.”

Mr Xaypanya, one of the scholarship recipients, said he and his friend would make their teachers proud by studying hard and achieving the best results possible. “It is very meaningful for all scholarship awardees that we have been provided with these opportunities so we can strive to obtain a better education, especially by increasing our proficiency in the Korean language.”

“To be given this opportunity to secure a brighter future is very significant for the two of us,” he added.

The scholarships follow the company's donation of educational and sports supplies to primary schools in Hadxaifong and Xaythany districts in Vientiane over the past months. The donations were made under the slogan “BS Capital Lao Leasing Co., Ltd. - Sharing happiness with the Lao PDR”.

BS Capital Lao Leasing did not take long to gain the trust of local people and their success in business will bring more prosperity to communities in Laos. BS Capital Lao Leasing officially began operations last month after celebrating their grand opening on June 8.

The company has formally begun operations by concentrating on car and motorcycle loans in the early stages. Once all of the systems are stable, BS Capital Lao Leasing plans to extend its services into areas such as light/heavy equipment leasing for business owners.

BS Capital Lao Leasing Co., Ltd.'s office is on the 2nd Floor of the Premier Building on Setthathirath Road in Phiavat village, Sisattanak district, Vientiane.
