RHB targets top-10 bank in five years

RHB Bank is planning to become a top-10 bank in Laos within the next five years.

Country Head of RHB Bank Lao Limited, Mr Danny Ling, said that they have their own plans to provide banking products and services that meet the demands of Lao people.

“Personally, I have been in Laos for more than 5 years already and I have to admit that there has been a lot of progress and development in the Lao banking industry,” he said, adding that apart from the fact that the number of banks has been increasing sharply, the service quality and products served to customers have also been improved.

As for the Malaysian banking systems, technology has been playing a significant role these days, such as electronic banking, mobile application banking, digital banking etc.

“I am sure that in the near future, Lao banking systems will shift towards the trend as well,” said Mr Ling.

The bank plans to open another branch in Vientiane by 2016 and is looking to open two more branches over the next two years with a combined staff of 52 for both the bank and the branches.

“I am pleased to share with you that the RHB Banking Group is today the fourth largest fully integrated financial services group in Malaysia,” said Mr Ling.

With the opening of RHB Bank Lao, they are now present in nine countries across Asia. Lao customers can leverage on their regional and cross-border offerings that will allow them to grow their businesses not only here in Laos, but in Hong Kong and Shanghai, as well as within the Asean region.

With a staff totalling more than 16,000, they are ready to serve their customers across the region to deliver customer expectations.

While they expand their regional footprint and strengthen their presence in the Asean region, the RHB Banking Group remains committed to go beyond just profits. They have always given priority to building a wholesome bank. The RHB Banking Group will continue to touch the lives of the communities where they operate, especially amongst the underprivileged.

In Laos, RHB will continue this commitment to play an active role in nurturing and developing the children here. “We believe that it is our responsibility to help the youth of today to uncover their true potential and develop into a well-rounded workforce of tomorrow,” said Mr Ling.

“We provide a full range of banking products for both corporate and retail customers. Our signature products that we provide to corporate customers would be term loans, revolving credit and overdrafts.”

As for retail customers, a housing loan is an outstanding product that helps individuals to be able to own their house at affordable terms and conditions.

As a customer-centric bank, they emphasise customised banking solutions for clients. Customers can look forward to products and services that are competitive and of value, custom-tailored loan packages and other services to meet their needs and requirements. “We are happy to share that we are one of the few banks here that provide housing loans with an attractive 20-year loan tenure,” he said.

Significantly, RHB Bank Lao Limited is proud to be able to contribute to the growth of the Lao economy in different industries as well as supporting both retail and corporate customers.

RHB Bank Lao Limited started business operations on June 6, 2014 and had its Grand Opening Ceremony on August 25, 2014.
