Lao companies selected to exhibit at CAEXPO
The Trade and Product Promotion Department recently revealed the 71 Lao companies chosen to participate in the 12th China-Asean Expo (CAEXPO), which takes place from September 18-21 in Nanning, China.
Speaking at a recent preparatory meeting, Acting Director General of the Trade and Pr oduct Promotion Department under the Ministry of Industry and Commerce, Mr Phan Vilaysom, said the expo will enable Laos to showcase the potential of its products in the Chinese market.
The exhibiting companies will feature a variety of wooden handicraft products, jewellery, foodstuffs and beverages.
The 12th CAEXPO takes the theme “Building the 21st Maritime Silk Road, Creating a New Blueprint for Maritime Cooperation” and will arrange a series of activities to promote friendly exchanges and economic and trade cooperation.
It will boost business opportunities for China and Asean countries to strengthen the China-Asean Free Trade Area, enhance commodity trade and investment cooperation, and expand cooperation in connectivity, international industrial capacity cooperation, cross-border economic cooperation, technological transfer, maritime cooperation, and finance.
Apart from China and the Asean nations, USA, Canada, Germany, France, Japan, the Republic of Korea, India, Australia, Hungary, Turkey and countries from South America and the Middle East will participate as trade visitors.
As part of the friendly cooperative theme, Cities of Charm of China and from the 10 Asean countries have been decided for the exhibition.
Thailand, the Country of Honour for the 12th CAEXPO, will hold an inaugural ceremony of its national pavilion, a national promotion conference, and roundtable talks between its visiting leaders and entrepreneurs as well as other activities throughout the expo.
According to China's Deputy Minister of Commerce Ms Gao Yan, the China-Asean Free Trade Area is accelerating two-way development.
Ms Gao said China and the Asean nations had strengthened political mutual trust, moved forward with bilateral trade and deepened economic integration, achieving win-win results and common de velopment.
A number of cooperation projects in the fields of electricity, bridge construction, agriculture and manufacturing have been launched.
At the end of 2014, two-way investment exceeded US$130 billion, Ms Gao said at a recent press conference on the 12th CAEXPO in Beijing, China.
China has successfully organised the previous 11 expos creating a strong business con nection among regional countries, especially Asean nations.
CAEXPO is also playing a more important role in comprehensive cooperation with the two sides experiencing rapid growth.
