Uniprint stands apart from the rest

Lao Uniprint Press Co., Ltd is one printing company focused on the quality of its production and standards of customer service and has declared itself ready for the coming of the AEC.

Managing Director of Lao Uniprint Press Co., Mr Phouthakone Bouphasvanh said his i nitial idea was to open a good quality printing company so that customers in Vientiane no longer had to travel abroad to find real quality printing services.

His idea sprung from the fact that, previously, if anyone wanted really good quality printing services, they had to go to other countries, so opening a good quality printing company was a good business opportunity in Laos.

Lao Uniprint initially invested more than two million dollars to launch the business, with the most e xpensive piece of equipment being the industrial printer at a cost of more than a million dollars alone.

Mr Phouthakone said that his state-of-the-art printer is capable of producing more than 16,000 colour pages per hour.

“Since the company opened, we have always had to work hard as we have enough customers,” he noted, “And sometimes they have to work overtime until 8 or 10pm.”

“There are many big organisations using our services,” Mr Phouthakhone added, “including international projects and government departments.”

They have included the National Assembly meeting while the company also worked for the National Statistics Centre (for two months at a cost of almost seven billion kip), along with other companies.

“To impress the customer, we always try to make the best quality of printing, such as using the good quality printing materi als and we always update our materials, seriously on the appointed time, when they need.”

“Recently, there have been many printing companies opening in Laos, especially in Vientiane, so we will try to focus more on quality and try to get a good price for the customers and for us.”

“For our company, we never think about how to make the best of competition with other companies because we don't compete with them. We are competing with ourselves as to what we should do to produce the best results.”

“Now, there are about 50 staff at the Lao Unipr int Company and all of them have good experience working with the company and have undergone training from visiting experts from developed countries.”

“We use the most modern and latest materials in our working systems, so it's very easy for us in our work, and we can produce very good quality materials for the customers as our computers can control everything for us. Before we had to check everything by ourselves,” Mr Phouthakone said.

“On the occasion of becoming a member of the AEC, it's the new thing for Laos and we should pay attention to it but I think everything about my company is ready for this occasion and I think my company can compete with other foreign companies because my company is good quality and the cost of labour is cheaper.”

“As we know, Laos is a small market and it might be too small for making big business because the big businesses also need big investment and the big investment also needs big or many customers,” he noted.

“But regarding the government, we don't know how much the government policy will support us. We could probably do with more assistance from the government.”

“I think we will get many benefits from joining the AEC such as we might have more customers as there will be more people coming to Laos for doing business and they will need a good printing company.”

Lao Uniprint Company is located next door to the Vattaithon g village office, on Nongsanokham Rd, in Sikhottabong district, Vientiane. It first opened its doors to the p ublic on August 24, 2010.
