Lao World's ITECC Mall 90 percent complete
Construction of the ITECC Shopping Mall, a private development project financed by the Lao World Public Company (Lao World) in Vientiane, is now 90 percent complete, according to the company's Board of Directors, with the remaining work going to plan.
The mall had been scheduled to open this month but, with less than two weeks left, members of the public are wondering how the company can complete the work in such a short period of time.
Lao World's Board Manager, Mr Khamphone Phonekeo, told Vientiane Times yesterday that construction of the mall was almos t complete and the remaining work consisted of interior decoration and the relocation of goods.
“We are relocating goods from the supermarket in Lao-ITE CC to the Skye Supermarket in the new ITECC Mall,” he said.
The mall, which is believed to be the biggest ever supermarket in Laos, intends to roll out the welcome mat for locals and foreigners in search of high-end product brands.
Mr Khamphone said recently the boa rd planned to officially open the shopping mall this month. But building decoration and product relocation would take a little more time.
The company has an 80-year lease on the site in front of the existing Lao-ITECC building, and is creating more parking spaces for customers.
The mall comprises a supermarket, duty free shop, sports stores, convention halls, business and entertainment venues, health and beauty centres, financial services, and restaurants.
A wide range of consumer goods and business facilities will be housed at the new Lao World shopping complex and locally made “One District, One Product” goods will also be on sale.
The grand hall on the seventh floor of the mall has recently been used for several entertainment events including the Lao Silk Inspiration Show 2015 and a singing contest.
