Ministry reduces fuel prices

The Ministry of Industry and Commerce has continued to announce reductions in the retail prices of premium grade petrol, regular petrol and diesel at outlets nationwide.

The latest price reduction was announced on July 13 and came into effect yesterday morning in Vientiane and the provinces of Khammuan, Savannakhet, Champassak, Bokeo and Xieng Khuang.
In Vientiane, petrol stations are now selling regular grade petrol for 8,300 kip a litre, down from the previous 8,350 kip a litre, while diesel is selling for 7,070 kip and premium petrol 9,500 kip a litre.
In Khammuan province, premium petrol sells for 9,530 kip and regular 8,330 kip, while diesel sells for 7,090 kip.
In Savannakhet province prices should be 9,540 kip a litre for premium, 8,330 kip for regular and 7,090 kip for diesel, while in Champassak province they should sell premium petrol at 9,560 kip, regular petrol for 8,350 kip, and diesel for 7,120 kip.
In Bokeo province, premium petrol should sell for 6,920 kip a litre, regular petrol sells for 8,400 kip and diesel for 7,170 kip, while in Xieng Khuang province regular petrol is 8,520 kip per litre and diesel is 7,280 kip.
The ministry cited plunging global oil prices as the reason for the pump price decreases.
The reduction in fuel prices will be good news for general consumers and farmers now in the rice planting season.
