Vietnamese envoy highlights growing trade ties and investment cooperation with Cambodia
At the meeting in Phnom Penh, Vietnamese Ambassador to Cambodia Nguyen Minh Vu highlighted high-level visits between the two countries in 2026 that consolidated political trust and advanced bilateral cooperation.

On border and territorial affairs, the embassy contributed to land border demarcation and marker planting, alongside promoting a coordination mechanism for maritime issues.
In trade cooperation, the embassy stepped up economic diplomacy, collaborating with Cambodian authorities and Vietnamese ministries, agencies and localities to resolve difficulties facing businesses and boost bilateral trade.
It also organised the 2026 Vietnam–Cambodia Business Dialogue, bringing together over 200 business representatives from both countries in the first dialogue held between Vietnamese enterprises and the Council for the Development of Cambodia.
Bilateral trade reached $8.67 billion in the first eight months of 2026, up 8.3% year on year, and is projected to hit around $13 billion for the full year, Vu noted. He added that the embassy has supported Vietnamese localities seeking investment opportunities in Cambodia.
Highlighting Cambodia’s strategic importance to Vietnam, the ambassador requested the prime minister’s direction to establish favourable mechanisms helping Vietnamese enterprises expand investment in the market.
Representing the community, Khmer–Vietnamese Association in Cambodia President Sim Chy affirmed their commitment to fostering friendship between the two nations. He thanked Vietnamese leaders, the Vietnam Fatherland Front, government ministries, local authorities, the embassy and benefactors for assisting the community, particularly with legal documentation, disaster relief and Khmer-language classes.
Vietnam–Cambodia Business Association Chairman Leng Rithy praised Vietnam’s development and noted that local Vietnamese enterprises serve as a bridge for trade, strengthening investment connectivity and people-to-people ties.
